Ingredients

  • lb spaghetti pasta
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 yellow bell pepper chopped
  • 1/2 white onion chopped
  • 1 rib celery chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning divided
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 lb jumbo shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 1/2 lb lump crab meat
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pasta: Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Once cooked, drain the pasta, reserving 1 cup of the pasta water for later use.
  • Sauté the Vegetables: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped red and yellow bell peppers, onion, and celery. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon of Cajun seasoning over the vegetables and add the minced garlic. Sauté the vegetables until they are tender and fragrant.
  • Create the Creamy Cajun Sauce: Once the vegetables are cooked, sprinkle the flour over them and stir until the flour is well incorporated. Gradually pour in the reserved pasta water and heavy cream, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming. Add the grated Parmesan cheese, black pepper, and garlic powder to taste. Stir the sauce until the cheese is melted and the sauce is creamy. Reduce the heat to low to keep the sauce warm.
  • Cook the Seafood: In a separate skillet, cook the jumbo shrimp with the remaining Cajun seasoning in butter until they turn pink and are cooked through. Add the cooked shrimp to the creamy Cajun sauce and stir to combine. Gently fold in the lump crab meat, being careful not to break up the crab chunks.
  • Combine and Serve: Toss the cooked pasta with the creamy Cajun sauce and seafood mixture until well coated. Serve immediately, garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or green onions for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

To make your Shrimp Crab Pasta with Creamy Cajun Sauce truly exceptional, here are some tips and tricks:
Use Fresh Ingredients: Fresh shrimp and crab, along with high-quality butter and cream, can make a significant difference in the taste.
Garlic Infusion: Instead of just sautéing the garlic, try infusing the butter with garlic by simmering it on low heat for a longer time. This will give a deeper garlic flavor.
Cajun Seasoning: Use a homemade Cajun seasoning blend for a more personalized and flavorful touch.
