Apple and Sage Turkey Meatballs bring a quick tasty solution to dinner strugglesfresh flavors ready in just 30 minutes

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground turkey (preferably lean, but not too dry)
  • 1 medium apple, peeled and finely chopped (Granny Smith preferred)
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage leaves, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried sage if fresh isn’t available)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Salt to taste (about 1 teaspoon)
  • Black pepper to taste (about 1/2 teaspoon)
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, chopped apple, minced garlic, diced onion, and chopped sage.
  • Add the breadcrumbs, beaten egg, and milk to the bowl. Sprinkle in salt and pepper—about 1 teaspoon salt and ½ teaspoon black pepper, but adjust to taste.
  • Mix everything using your hands or a spoon until ingredients are just combined. Avoid overmixing to prevent tough meatballs.
  • Form the mixture into small balls, roughly 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter, yielding about 16 to 20 meatballs.
  • Heat a few tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the meatballs in batches, searing them for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Transfer the seared meatballs to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, until cooked through and juices run clear.
  • Remove from oven and let the meatballs rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Optional: Instead of baking, simmer the seared meatballs in your favorite tomato or cream sauce for about 20 minutes. Adjust seasoning if adding sauce.
